Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 21
The least expensive yearling sold at the Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale this year by I Am Invincible made a bold showing at the Warwick Farm trials on Tuesday morning.

Thunder PaceOf the four juvenile heats conducted over 800 metres, the fastest was won by the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott trained colt Thunder Pace in 46.90 seconds.

Having his first public outing, he jumped fast from an outside gate for Brenton Avdulla and surged forward, but with other colts kicking up inside Thunder Pace was left to face the breeze three deep.

He covered ground and forged clear down the running and was eased down at the line to win by a length and a quarter.

A $140,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Gai and Adrian from the Middlebrook Valley Lodge draft, he runs in the colours of Sun Bloodstock.

Thunder Pace is a half-brother to stakes-winning juvenile Moonlight Hussler and is from well bred Redoute’s Choice mare Moonlight Music, who claims celebrated matriarch Fanfreluche as her third dam.

There is a good bit of the wow factor about this world renowned international female family which has produced numerous Australian Group I winners including I Am a Star, who is by Thunder Pace’s sire I am Invincible.

It’s a noted sire producing family of horses such as Flying Spur, Encosta de Lago, Holy Roman Emperor and current star sprinting colt Russian Revolution, so if Thunder Pace is any good, the tag ‘hot sire prospect’ will follow very quickly.

Other two year-old trial winners were Terminology (Star Witness), Membrillo (Medaglia D’Oro) and Sneak Preview (Smart Missile).
