Magic 2YO Quinella for Hinchinbrook

Tara Madgwick - Monday November 13
Astute Warwick Farm trainer Bjorn Baker is not afraid to venture out of the metropolitan area in search of success and produced a two year-old quinella at Queanbeyan on Monday with a pair of Magic Millions purchased youngsters by Hinchinbrook.

Countercurrent as a yearlingSent out a hot favourite, the filly Countercurrent was too good for her stablemate First Time Lucky, who will have to wait for his second time at least to the races to be lucky with a win.

Despite missing the start, she recovered well and surged away to win the 900 metre maiden by three lengths from the colt with Eurozone colt The Euro in third place.

A $210,000 Magic Millions purchase for Golden Eastern Horses from the Fairview Park Stud draft, Countercurrent is a half-sister to stakes-placed Australia Day and is the fourth winner from good metro winner Helluva Party, who comes from the family of dual Group I winner Kermadec.

Countercurrent is the first new season two year-old winner for Hinchinbrook, who is covering a full book at Yarraman Park at a fee of $44,000.
