Sunset Dreaming Brings Magic Update for Mill Park

Tara Madgwick - Saturday December 9

Racing at Ballarat on Saturday kicked off with the $175,000 VOBIS Gold Eureka Stockade (1400m) with victory going to progressive filly Sunset Dreaming, whose half-brother by King’s Legacy will be headed to Magic Millions in January for Mill Park Stud.

Trained by Tony and Calvin McEvoy, Sunset Dreaming has been racing well in tougher grade with a last start fifth in the Group II MRC Sandown Guineas last Saturday following a fifth in the Group III MRC Blue Sapphire Stakes.

Dropped back in grade for this assignment, she showed her class to forge clear and win by more than a length with Harry Coffey in the saddle.

A $150,000 Magic Millions purchase from Mill Park Stud for McEvoy Mitchell Racing/Belmont Bloodstock Agency, Sunset Dreaming has won three of six starts earning over $190,000 in prizemoney.

“She’s been running so well, but just getting too far back so we put the blinkers on and I said to Harry be the boss of her and put her into the race and she got the job done,” said Tony McEvoy.

“She’s a very fit filly and she toughed it out well.”

Bred by Brenton and Liz Parker, Sunset Dreaming is a half-sister by Impending to quality Group III winning mare Benedetta and Group II placed Whatafox and is the third winner from three to race from top producing Group II placed Domesday mare Whatalovelyday.

Mill Park will offer the yearling King’s Legacy colt from Whatalovelyday as Lot 355 at Magic Millions, where they will present a draft of 14.
