Ballarat Double for Animal Kingdom

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday November 7
Animal Kingdom (USA) featured with a winning double at Ballarat on Monday with two well bred colts saluting, one a half-brother to Weekend Hussler and the other from a daughter of Alinghi.

The Darren Weir trained Peaceful State scored by a neck over 1400 metres as favourite at his second start and with a big margin back to the third horse it looked like the first two were well above their rivals.

Animal KingdomNot offered for sale, Peaceful State is raced by Katsumi Yoshida and is the last foal of Weekend Beauty, the dam of Australian Horse of the Year Weekend Hussler.

In the next race it was the turn of the Robert Smerdon trained colt Roar, who carried the Champion Thoroughbreds colours to a length victory over 1600 metres at his fourth start.

A $200,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Arrowfield draft for Champion Thoroughbreds / Matchem Genetics, Roar is a half-brother to Group III placed Extra Olives and Regatta Rebel from Alinghi's daughter Line Honours.

Winner of the Kentucky Derby and Dubai World Cup, Animal Kingdom stands at Arrowfield at a fee of $27,500.
