Juvenile Trial Watch – Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Monday November 6
The Warwick Farm trials were run on the synthetic track on Monday morning with two juvenile heats won by a Pierro filly and a colt by I Am Invincible that is closely related to this season's stakes-winning two year-old filly Setsuna, who runs at Flemington on Cup Day.

Perfect Pitch as a yearlingFinishing hard to come from last to first in her 740 metre heat was the Gary Portelli trained filly Perfect Pitch, who stretched out nicely under a hold to win by a neck.

A $100,000 Magic Millions purchase for Laurel Oak Bloodstock from the Southern Cross Breeders draft, Perfect Pitch is a half-sister to stakes-placed Lipizzan, who is also trained by Portelli for similar owners and has won nearly $170,000 in prizemoney.

She is from Absolutely Flying, a half-sister to Group II winner Camporella from stakes-winner Really Flying.

Saluting in the next trial was the Gary Moore trained colt Paquirri, who showed good pace and forged clear to win by half a length.

Paquirri as a yearlingHe was fourth at the early season trials on September 18 and has made good progress since then.

He was the second highest priced offering at the 2017 Magic Millions Perth Yearling Sale, purchased by his trainer for $265,000 from the draft of Dawson Stud.

He is the first and only foal of former brilliant stakes-winning juvenile Miss Solis, who is a half-sister to Setsuna, winner of this year's $250,000 MVRC Inglis Banner RL.
