Kodiac Takes the World Record

Tara Madgwick - Friday November 3
A debut two year-old winner for Kodiac at Lingfield overnight has given him the world record for two year-old winners held previously by Sunday Silence.

KodiacTrained by Charlie Appleby for Godolphin, two year-old colt Statehood scored by a neck over seven furlongs.

"I was very pleased with Statehood. We had a nice draw and got a nice position. He quickened well and was just doing enough. He's still learning his trade and I think we're at the right trip," said winning rider James Doyle.

He was a 200,000 guinea purchase for John Ferguson Bloodstock at the Tattersalls Foal Sale in 2015.

Statehood is the 52nd two year-old winner this year for Kodiac bettering the previous world record set by Sunday Silence in 2004 at 51.
