Extreme Choice Mare Extremist in Stakes Breakthrough

Mark Smith - Saturday November 11

Twice stakes-placed, the 5-year-old Extreme Choice mare Extremist broke through for a valuable stakes success in Saturday’s Listed Channel 7 Keith Noud Quality t Doomben.

Ridden by Robbie Dolan for Robert Heathcote, Extremist travelled sweetly on the outside of Zarastro. She gradually got the better of the I Am Invincible gelding to win by one and a quarter lengths with the Better Than Ready entire Steady Ready a neck back in third.

A $35,000 purchase for Robert Heathcote Racing/Steve Morley Bloodstock from the Eureka Stud draft in Book 2 of the 2020 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, Extremist advances her record to six wins, five seconds and three thirds from 20 starts with earnings of $346,500.

“It’s very satisfying, she is a tough as they come, stable representative Mel Sharpe said.

“Being by Extreme Choice she is a very valuable mare. We space her runs because she is not a huge mare. She can be a hot little girl.”

Extremist is the best of three winners from as many to race for the Johannesburg (USA) mare Rubinacci.

A 7-time winner Rubinacci was a $50,000 purchase for Harry McAlpine Bloodstock at the 2018 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale.

A great-granddaughter of the VATC One Thousand Guineas and VRC Oaks Stakes winner Rom's Stiletto, Rubinacci died in 2021. Her final foal is the unraced 3yo Spirit Of Boom filly, Rumpus.

Bred by Eureka Stud, Extremist is the 11th stakes-winner for Newgate Farm's Extreme Choice.
