Juvenile Trial Watch – Randwick

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 31
Four juvenile heats at Randwick on Tuesday morning produced some interesting horses including a runaway winner for Widden Stud's Star Witness, while his barn mate Zoustar also got into the picture.

The John Sargent trained colt Royal Witness was a standout, dominating his heat from the outset to beat a trio of Godolphin runners by a widening six lengths.

It was his first public outing and an impressive one given he covered the 735 metres in 42.5 seconds which was the quickest of the two year-old heats.

A $60,000 Magic Millions National Yearling Sale purchase from the draft of Goodwood Farm for Tricolours Racing & Syndications Pty Ltd, Royal Witness has some pedigree behind him as his dam Confidential Queen is a grand-daughter of Snippets' Lass, who has found fame and fortune as the dam of Australia's best stallion Snitzel and also Group III winning sire Hinchinbrook.

Madam Rouge as a yearlingChris Waller trained Zoustar to Group I success in the ATC Golden Rose and VRC Coolmore Stud Stakes and would no doubt love to provide his first winner.

Madam Rouge was second at her first trial on October 20 and improved to win this one, albeit under her own steam by a narrow margin. She was asked to win by Glyn Schofield, but not by much!

A $310,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Widden stud draft for Waller Racing/ Mulcaster Bloodstock, Madam Rouge is the second foal of stakes-winner Cabernet.

The other two juvenile heats were won by Cosimo (Written Tycoon) and Eveleigh (Delago Deluxe), click here for all the trial results from this morning.
