Stonebrook, undefeated in four previous starts for the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott stable, started as short as $1.90 in the McMahons Racecourse Construction Handicap (1400m) but simply had no answer to Passage Of Time ($4.20) over the final 100m, going down by a short neck. Chris Waller's High Mist ($8) finished a further three-quarters of a length back in third.

Rider Glyn Schofield ensured Passage Of Time utilised barrier three and stayed within striking distance of the favourite before providing Pride with his sixth winner from his last 13 starters.

"I didn't specifically tie him down to any instructions – Glyn is a very capable rider," Pride said.

"As long as we were able to stay in touch of Gai's horse then we would give ourselves a good chance to run him down."

Passage Of Time, formerly with now Godolphin head trainer James Cummings, has now won two of his three starts for Pride and will have his first attempt at black type in the Listed Ladies Day Cup (1400m) at Hawkesbury on Oaks day next week.

"I think it looks a nice race for him and he's an entire so we have to have a crack sooner or later," Pride said.
