Juvenile Trial Watch– Warwick Farm

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 23

Busy set of trials at Warwick Farm this morning featured outstanding three year-old Brave Smash (Jpn) filly Kimochi, who was given a taste of that winning feeling, while two heats for juveniles were taken out by the progeny of Written Tycoon and Russian Revolution.

The Gary Portelli trained Kimochi was placed in every leg of the Darley Princess Series – third to Autumn Ballet in the Silver Shadow, then seconds to Tiz Invincible twice in the Furious and Tea Rose before another second to Tropical Squall I the G1 Flight Stakes.

With a win and six placings from seven starts, Kimochi has won over $440,000 and I’m sure we’d all love to see her poke her nose in front when she steps out next and hopefully this trial will have her in the right mindset!

Gary Portelli also saddled up the quinella in the first of the two year-old trials with Written Tycoon colt Iron Hawk scoring by three quarters of a length over his stablemate Thunderous, a Northern Hemisphere conceived son of Night of Thunder. Iron Hawk was clueless in his first trial two weeks ago when he jumped from an outside gate and was wide and back throughout, so showed sharp improvement to win this one.

Iron Hawk was a $220,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

A $220,000 Inglis Classic purchase for Trilogy Racing from the Sledmere Stud draft, Iron Hawk is a half-brother to a winner from stakes-placed Catbird mare Lady Dynamo, who traces back to a good old Victorian family with her third dam being blue hen and multiple Group winning Century mare Stage Hit.

The second juvenile heat in slower time was won by the Robert Quinn trained Russian Revolution filly Bronco Revolution, who looks a natural runner. She worked forward to lead for Tom Sherry and coasted to the line to win by a couple of lengths with ears pricked and had a good experience.

Bronco Revolution was a $35,000 Inglis Classic purchase.

Bronco Revolution was a modest $35,000 Inglis Classic purchase from Valiant Stud for Grange Bloodstock and is only a few generations away from one of the most popular and commercial families in the studbook. She is the first foal of Fantastic Destiny, a raced twice Pierro mare from Paris Who, a minor winning full sister to Group I placed stakes-winner and sire Zizou.

The fourth dam of Bronco Revolution is stakes-placed Singles Bar and that’s where the page gets interesting with Group I winners King’s Legacy and Oohood, plus champion sire Not a Single Doubt appearing in the pedigree, so if Bronco Revolution amounts to anything, she’s going to look extremely well bought!
