Snitzel Stallion Wins G2 Caulfield Sprint for Rosemont Alliance

Tara Madgwick - Saturday October 21

The $300,000 Group II MRC Caulfield Sprint (1000m) produced a huge result for the Rosemont Stallion Alliance syndicate when their Snitzel stallion Doull scored a career best win to beat the favourite Spacewalk.

Transferred to Annabel Neasham at the end of his three year-old season after winning two minor races for Anthony and Sam Freedman, Doull improved at his second start for his new trainer to score a neck win with Mick Dee in the saddle.

"I have to say full credit to the Rosemont team. I had him in a benchmark 78 in Sydney and they said 'you'd better throw him in this Group Two',” Annabel Neasham revealed.

"We thought it was going to map really nicely but he is just the most beautiful colt. We haven't had him all that long and the Freedmans did a phenomenal job with him.

"He's just so professional and it is great that he got his head in front. Hopefully he can build from there.

"He has always shown above average ability but he has matured into a horse that has the most beautiful temperament. He's got tactical speed as well.

"Great ride from Micky Dee as well. We've had some luck with him."

Doull has added value to his family with a G2 win! - image Grant Courtney

A $1.2million Inglis Easter purchase from the Yarraman Park draft for Rosemont Victorian Alliance / Suman Hedge Bloodstock (FBAA) / David Redvers Bloodstock, Doull has the overall record of three wins from nine starts with prizemoney topping $313,000.

Bred by Shadwell, Doull was foaled and raised at Yarraman Park and is a half-brother to Group III winner Aryaaf being the best of three winners from stakes-winning Shamardal (USA) mare Bulbula, a half-sister to Group III winner Khulaasa.

Bulbula was bought by Rosemont Stud from the Shadwell Dispersal at the Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale in 2021 for $1.35million and they also bought Aryaaf at the same sale for $800,000, so a Group II win for Doull has added much value to his whole family!

Bulbula has a yearling colt by Snitzel and Aryaaf has a yearling filly by Zoustar.

Doull is the 137th stakes-winner for champion sire Snitzel.
