Impressive Trial Winner for Zoustar

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday August 2
It's a new season with a new group of young sires poised to make their mark and Northern Meteor's Group I winning son Zoustar was in the frame at the trials at Te Teko in New Zealand on Monday with a good win for Quattro Katie.

Prepared by Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards, Quattro Katie was first home in the 620 metre scamper and appears a ready made racehorse.

"We're really pleased with the filly, she has done everything right from the get go," said co-trainer Jamie Richards.

"We went to Magic Millions to buy a precocious early running horse, this filly stood out and as a bonus she was by the exciting stallion Zoustar.

"She is exactly that, a strong precocious type, good hind quarters, and she wants to be a racehorse.

"She has pulled up well after her impressive trial this morning and will now go to the paddock for two to three weeks. The plan is to bring her back in and set her for some 2YO races leading up to Christmas. The dream would be to return to Queensland for the Magic Millions 2YO race."

Quattro Katie was purchased from the Baramul Stud draft for $150,000 by David Ellis and is from stakes-winning Zeditave mare Kakakakatie.

Zoustar splits his time between Widden Stud in the Hunter Valley and Woodside Park in Victoria, where he is based this spring at a fee of $44,000.
