Pedigree Potential –NZB Ready to Run – Nicks that Click

We expect New Zealand’s champion sire Savabeel to play a major role in the Australian spring carnivals, but probably less expected is to see this Cox Plate winning super sire with one of the favourites in the $20million The Everest over the sprinting trip of 1200m and there is a colt to be offered at the NZB Ready to Run Sale bred exactly the same way as I Wish I Win.

Winner of last year’s $10million ATC Golden Eagle (1500m), the Peter Moody trained I Wish I Win returned in the autumn to win the Group I ATC TJ Smith Stakes over the Everest distance of 1200m and will jump from gate one on Saturday at Randwick with Luke Nolen to ride.

Savabeel has nine entries for the NZB Ready to Race Sale and Lot 279 offered by Pertab Racing is bred on the exact same lines as I Wish I Win being from Pins mare Tiptoes, whose next dam is by Centaine, the same as I Wish I Win.

This colt is a half-brother to dual Group I winner Tiptronic and his dam is a sibling to Group I winners Legs (NZ Oaks)and Guyno (WA Derby)

The Savabeel x Pins nick has produced 106 winners from 140 starters highlighted by 17 stakes-winners, five of them Group I winners.

Another of the most successful nicks for Savabeel comes with daughters of O’Reilly with that nick producing 152 winners from 204 runners highlighted by 27 stakes-winners, eight of them Group I winners including this year’s Group I ATC Australian Derby winner Major Beel.

Lot 297 from Ohukia Lodge is bred this way and the colt is from Virginia, a placed full sister to four time Group I winner Alamosa.

Savabeel has had promising results with daughters of champion sire Fastnet Rock with this nick producing eight winners from 12 starters highlighted by two stakes-winners Hindaam and Kaonic.

Lot 218 from Trelawney Stud is the first foal of Fastnet Rock mare Samoon, a winning half-sister to Group I winning sprinter Shamal Wind.

Savabeel has also had good success with daughters of another champion Australian sire in Encosta de Lago with that nick producing 12 winners from 20 starters highlighted by three winners headed by Group I winner Hasahalo.

Lot 383 from Cheltenham Stables is the half-brother to Group II winner Spanish Whisper from Cutting Remark, who comes from the family of champion racehorse and Group I sire Rock of Gibraltar.

The 2023 edition of the Sale will take place at the Karaka Sales Centre from 11am (NZT) on 22 & 23 November with Breeze Ups to be held at Te Rapa Racecourse on 16 & 17 October. Click here for the full catalogue.
