Rising HK Star for Husson

Tara Madgwick - Monday October 23
When a horse arrives in Hong Kong and reels off five consecutive wins for the John Size stable it’s fairly safe to say he’s a horse headed for the top.

Nothingilikemore - HKJCA four year-old gelding by Aquis Farm’s Husson (Arg), Nothingilikemore was having his first run since April when lining up in the Class Two event over 1400 metres at Sha Tin on Sunday and won like the rising star his trainer believes him to be.

Nothingilikemore was a hot favourite with Joao Moreira in the saddle and powered to the line to win by two lengths eased down under 60 kg in a dominant display.

The win took his unbeaten record to five wins from five starts.

Nothingilikemore left his trainer John Size satisfied that his much-lauded charge is on track for January’s Group I Hong Kong Classic Mile.

"I couldn’t wish for anything else,” Size said.

"We’ll find a couple of races and then wait for the third week in January.

"Every horse has an excuse first-up – some of them don’t switch on and some of them are over-switched on but he’s just the consummate racehorse. He does everything good.

"We’ll see how he is. I wouldn’t think he’ll have many runs, I don’t want to over tax him.”

Joao Moreira was also impressed and is sure there is more to come.

"I just wanted to keep things simple, avoid any complications,” Moreira said.

Nothingilikemore as a yearling"I made sure he was wide to come into a clear run, and when I pulled him out he just found another gear – he ran away from them and proved he’s as good as I think he is.

"I didn’t feel the pace of the race was hot, but the pace that he himself had at the finish was very impressive.”

A $40,000 Inglis Classic purchase for John Foote Bloodstock from the Toolooganvale Farm draft, Nothingilikemore is from Katisam, a minor winning Lonhro mare from the family of Golden Slipper winner Polar Success.

John Foote is no stranger to success at plucking Hong Kong champions from this sale having purchased world champion sprinter Silent Witness from Inglis Classic way back in 2001 for $55,000.

Nothingilkemore looms as a future stakes-winner for Husson who stands at Aquis Farm in Queensland at a fee of $13,200.
