With juvenile trials starting to pop up right around Australia as we roll into spring a weekly check of the Breednet unraced first season sires trial report is  a must read for those interested in the fortunes of our next crop of young sires.

Sires with trial winners include: Bellevue Hill, Blue Point (IRE), Calyx (GB), Exceedance, Sun City and Unite and Conquer, also worth noting Dubious with five runners and three of them placed and trained by Annabel Neasham and Lee Freedman.

Also Zousain with four runners, two of them placed and trained by Peter and Paul Snowden and Annabel Neasham.

Tony and Calvin McEvoy saddled the winner for Exceedance with Dublin Down scoring a stylish held together neck win at Ararat over 850m on September 28.

He was a $370,000 Magic Millions purchase from the Edinburgh Park draft for McEvoy Mitchell Racing/Belmont Bloodstock and is the second foal of stakes-winning O’Reilly mare Dublin Lass.

Dublin Down was the most expensive yearling by Exceedance sold at the Gold Coast is his second most expensive overall and has accepted for the Listed VRC Maribyrnong Trial on Saturday at Flemington.
