Spendthrift Farm Announce US Fees

Media Release - Monday October 23

B Wayne Hughes' Spendthrift Farm announced 2018 stud fees for most of its roster set to stand at the Lexington-based farm this upcoming breeding season.

Into Mischief has the top slot on the Spendthrift Farm roster USAAmong the roster of 24 are three new stallions for 2018, and Spendthrift's stallion ranks will be spearheaded at the top by leading sire Into Mischief, whose fee has moved to $100,000 S&N and is booked full.

The three new stallions include the recently-retired Gormley, Lord Nelson, and Tom's Ready, who remains in training through the end of the year. Gormley, winner of last year's FrontRunner S. (G1) at Santa Anita at two and this year's $1 million Santa Anita Derby (G1) at three, retires as Malibu Moon's only Grade 1-winning 2-year-old at stud. The millionaire also joins Orb as his sire's only multiple Grade 1 winners at stud. Gormley will stand for $10,000 S&N.

Lord Nelson, the three-time Grade 1-winning son of Pulpit, has recovered from a well-documented battle with Laminitis that caused him to miss the 2017 breeding season, and he's ready to stand his first season in 2018. Lord Nelson's fee will be $25,000 S&N.

Long-time Spendthrift stalwart Malibu Moon will remain at $75,000 S&N in 2018 after another banner year that has already included four Grade 1 winners, including leading Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) contenders Heavenly Love, recent winner of Keeneland's Alcibiades S. (G1), and multiple Grade 1 winner Moonshine Memories, winner of the Del Mar Debutante (G1) and Santa Anita's Chandelier S. (G1). Malibu Moon's other 2018 Grade 1 winners include the aforementioned Gormley and Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) contender Ransom the Moon, winner of Del Mar's Bing Crosby S. (G1).

Spendthrift is hosting an open house this week from 1-3pm daily through Thursday. The below chart includes Spendthrift's full stallion roster and 2018 stud fees.
