Trapeze Artist's Facile Breaks The Ice

Mark Smith - Monday October 2

Seconds in the Inglis Nursery (LR), Sweet Embrace Stakes (GII), and Reisling Stakes (GII), proved to be the right form for the 3-year-old Trapeze Artist filly Facile to break her maiden over 1100m at Warwick Farm on Monday.

Ridden by Tyler Schiller for Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, Facile emerged from a 30-week break to lead at every call to defeat the talented Zoustar filly Joliestarby a half-length with the Russian Revolution gelding Unstopabull three and three-quarter lengths back in third.

Tyler Schiller said he was looking for a forward showing after riding the daughter of Trapeze Artist in a recent trial.

“I galloped her one day at Rosehill and she didn’t appreciate the soft track,” Schiller said.

“I was happier with her in the trial behind a horse that came out and won impressively midweek (Arctic Glamour). She did a good job to put them away today.

“While she doesn’t feel she has a lot (left in the tank), she has got a lot of fight. She did a bit of work to get across and fired up a bit, which took a bit off her finish, but she has a nice cruising speed, she quickened well and has more in store.”

Facile a $420,000 Inglis Easter yearling

Bred by Vieira Group, Facile was a $420,000 purchase for Ryan and Alexiou Racing from the Widden Stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Yearling Sale.

Sporting the Aquis silks, Facile’s first four dams are stakes-performers. She is the first foal of the Vieira family homebred I Like It Easy (Pierro), winner of the Listed Reginald Allen Quality and a 2yo race over 1200m at Warwick Farm in an 8-start career.

Bert Vieira purchased I Like It Easy’s dam Gai’s Choice (General Nediym) for $81,000 in 2009.

I Like It Easy has been faithful to Trapeze Artist in her first four seasons. She has a 2-year-old sister to Facile named Elegant Artist in the Ryan/Alexiou stable.

After foaling her third consecutive filly last spring, I Like It Easy was covered by Trapeze Artist in November.
