One to Watch – Seymour

Tara Madgwick - Sunday October 22
At this time of year a three year-old colt by renowned New Zealand classic sire Tavistock that beats older horses to win as he likes at the provincials is an obvious choice for 'One to Watch'.

Tavistock with Sir Patrick HoganThe Matt Cumani trained Greycliffe was a short priced favourite in the Benchmark 64 event over 2200 metres at Seymour on Sunday and never looked in danger of defeat.

Entered for the Group I VRC Victoria Derby, he raced up on the pace and coasted home to win by four lengths, his second win from four starts.

A $250,000 NZB Premier purchase from the Lyndhurst Farm draft for Phil Cataldo Bloodstock/ Matt Cumani, Greycliffe has a Derby pedigree being the sixth winner from Tristraad, an unraced half-sister to four-time Group I winner Giovana and grand-daughter of Group I Queensland Derby winner Tristina.

Diamond Lodge will offer a full brother to Greycliffe at the 2017 NZB Ready to Run Sale next month as Lot 407.
