G3 Quinella Too Darn Hot

Tara Madgwick - Friday September 29

Darley shuttler Too Darn Hot (GB) will have his first Australian runners this season and the champion son of Dubawi had a great result overnight when his promising colts Alyanaabi and Boiling Point filled the quinella in the Group III Tattersalls Stakes (7f) at Newmarket.

A homebred colt for Shadwell trained by Owen Burrows, Alyanaabi won his debut at Salisbury in June and was then fourth in a Listed race at Ascot before having a short break.

Held up in traffic, Jim Crowley was eventually able to get Alyanaabi into clear running and when he did the colt hit the line hard to catch Boiling Point on the line to win by a short head with a couple of lengths back to the next horse.

“I thought a furlong out Alyanaabi might run on and be placed, but when Jim (Crowley) got the gap he took off. On reflection he would have been an unlucky loser and we thought he was better than he had shown at Ascot last time,” said Owen Burrows.

“He's in the Dewhurst and we'll see how he comes out of this, but he could come back here next month if the ground is like this.”

Alyanaabi is the first winner for Alyamaama, an unraced half-sister to Group I winner Ghanaati, Group III winner Mawatheeq, stakes-winner Rumoush and the dams of numerous stakes-winners with Group I ATC Sydney Cup winner Shraaoh also on the page.

Alyanaabi is the fourth stakes-winner among 19 first crop winners for Too Darn Hot and all of them are Group winners headed by his Group I winning filly Fallen Angel.

Too Darn Hot stands at Darley NSW at a fee of $44,000.
