Shesallshenanigans Storms to Victory in Cap D’Antibes

Mark Smith - Saturday September 16

The gorgeous Toronado (IRE) filly Shesallshenanigans earned a maiden stakes success with a fighting win in Saturday’s Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes (1600m) at Flemington.

Ridden by Blaike McDougall for Simon Zahara, Shesallshenanigans tracked the early speed on the grandstand side. In a driving finish, Shesallshenanigans held the finish of the promising Harry Angel (IRE) filly Stretan Angel by a half-neck, with Better Than Ready filly Skirt The Law a one-and-a-half lengths back in third.

The winner of The Thoroughbred Breeders Victoria Showdown (1200m) last season, Shesallshenanigans advances her record to four wins and a third from seven starts with earnings of $900,250.

“I left it to Blaikey; he summed it up quite quickly and rolled into it nicely,” Zahra said.

“They were coming from everywhere, but he had a fair bit of horse underneath him, which was fantastic. Carlton last night or this, I don’t know what’s better!

“We were keen to get up the straight throughout the carnival, and she was really fat going into the first up run. We redirected where we wanted to go, sat down Saturday night and a month in between runs, a nice hit out on Friday… a great ride by Blaikey, summed it up nicely and got the job done,

“We’ll just get her home; she’s still got improvement. We like to space her, keep her nice and happy; we’ve got a couple of months to work our way through the carnival, so it’s good to get black type on her name too now - she’s done it all.”
