With the start of the breeding season on September 1 now less than two weeks away there has been a sharp rise in the number of hypothetical matings run on Breednet Premium stallions as broodmare owners search for inspiration and stallion parades at farms around Australia spark the imagination, so let’s look at some value options making news in stakes races on Saturday.

Much missed Golden Slipper winning sire Sebring has shot into second place on the Australian General Sires List thanks to his outstanding mare Fangirl, winner of the Group I ATC Winx Stakes and while he is sadly no longer with us, he does have a good selection of sires sons and they include exiting young sire Supido.

Standing at Widden Stud as did his sire, Supido is the sire of explosive sprinter Buenos Noches, who resumed from a spell to win the Group III ATC Show County Stakes encouraging connections to dream of an Everest start.

Supido stood his first five seasons at fees ranging from $11,000 down to $8,800 and this year thanks to Buenos Noches and his other stakes-winning son What You Need, his fee has risen to $19,800… that’s still affordable, but could be the beginning of an upward spiral, so if you like him don’t waste any time.
