Tiz Invincible Breaks Maiden in The Rosebud

Mark Smith - Saturday August 12

Ciaron Maher said it is all upside for Tiz Invincible after the daughter of I Am Invincible shed her maiden tag in Saturday’s Listed Chandon Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill.

After taking a step back at the start, Tiz Invincible settled back third behind the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott-trained pair, The Instructor and Introducing.

James McDonald eased his way into the clear on the Ciaron Maher and David Eustice-trained filly, but the Tulloch Lodge pair were up for the fight.

Tiz Invincible wore down the Trapeze Artist colt Introducing by a short-neck with the Russian Revolution colt The Instructor by a long-neck back in third.

The Churchill (IRE) filly Cigar Flick was a fast-finishing fourth.

Tiz Invincible finished fourth in the Group III Black Opal Stakes at Canberra at her career debut in March before a second to the promising Hellbent filly Kristilli in the Group II Percy Sykes Stakes at Randwick a month later.

“You don’t often break your maiden in stakes races, especially in the field like that,”  Ciaron Maher said.

“She has always been a quality filly and has a huge pedigree.

“She was a little slow to begin, but I didn’t mind. In the mid stages, she got up on the bridle, and I thought, being a bit soft, she might feel that late, but her quality kicked in.

“She is a proper racehorse – the way she had to push out and make her own luck and still knuckle down.”

Bred by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, Tiz Invincible was a $550,000 purchase for Bahen Bloodstock / Ciaron Maher Racing / Eric Lucas from the Segenhoe Stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Sale.

She is the second foal of Amuletum (GB) (New Approach), a half-sister to 9-time Group 1 winner Anamoe from the Group I SAJC Australasian Oaks winner Anamato (Redoute’s Choice).

Beginning her stud career in Europe, Anamato produced the Listed winner Anamba (Shamardal), second in the Group III Weld Park Stakes at the Curragh.

After two unplaced starts in Ireland, Amuletum (GB) was consigned by Godolphin to the 2017 December Breeding Stock Sale, where she was purchased for 75,000 guineas by Paul Makin and Dermot Farrington.

Sent to Peter Chapple-Hyam, Amuletum (GB) started a further five times placing at Newcastle (x2) and Windsor before a 10-length success over a mile and a half at Leicester.

Exported to Australia with a positive test to Kingman (GB), Amuletum (GB) was consigned by Segenhoe Stud to the 2019 National Broodmare Sale, where she failed to make her $480,000.

Her first is the unraced Kingman (GB) filly Royal Mule who has had a couple of barrier trials for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.

At the Magic Millions in January,  Justin Fung/Aquis Stallions shelled out $200,000 for Segenhoe Stud’s Pierata half-brother to Tiz Invincible.

After foaling a brother to Tiz Invincible last spring, Amuletum (GB) was covered by Acclaim (IRE).

Tiz Invincible is the 98th stakes-winner for Yarraman Park Stud’s reigning champion stallion I Am Invincible.
