Best On Breeding

Mark Smith - Friday August 11

Despite being the lone maiden in the field, Tiz Invincible is likely to start a short-priced favourite in Saturday’s $200,000 Listed The Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens.

The daughter of I Am Invincible has made two starts for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace finishing fourth in the Group III Black Opal Stakes at Canberra in March before a second to the promising Hellbent filly Kristilli in the Group II Percy Sykes stakes at Randwick a month later.

When Tiz Invincible’s dam Amuletum (GB) was consigned by Segenhoe Stud to the 2019 National Broodmare Sale carrying a positive test to Kingman (GB), the daughter of  New Approach (IRE) had a six-month-old half-brother by Street Boss (USA) galloping around the paddocks at Darley Stud.

That colt was the future nine-time Group 1 winner Anamoe, who is letting down for his first season at stud this spring.

Amuletum (GB) left the ring unsold when bidding halted short of her $480,000 reserve.

Bred by Darley, Amuletum (GB) began her racing career under the care of Michael Halford in Ireland. When failing to place in two starts on the all-weather at Dundalk at three, Godolphin consigned her to the 2017 December Breeding Stock Sale.

Being the daughter of the Group I SAJC Australasian Oaks winner Anamato (Redoute’s Choice), Amuletum (GB) was sure to attract interest from buyers in Australasia.

Having the final say at 75,000 guineas were Paul Makin and Dermot Farrington.

Sent to Peter Chapple-Hyam, Amuletum (GB) started a further five times placing at Newcastle (x2) and Windsor before a 10-length success over a mile and a half at Leicester.

Amuletum’s dam Anamato had been a top-class performer for David Hayes. All four of her wins were at stakes level. While the Group 1 SAJC Australasian Oaks was the highlight, she claimed the Group II VRC A V Kewney Stakes, Group II MVRC Moonee Valley Oaks, and Group III SAJC Sires' Produce Stakes.

David Hayes accompanied Anamato to America to contest the $US750,000,000 Grade I American Oaks (2000m) at Hollywood Park. Ridden by Michael Rodd, she finished third behind Panty Raid and Valbenny.

Beginning her stud career in Europe, Anamato produced the Listed winner Anamba (Shamardal), which was edged out in the Group III Weld Park Stakes at the Curragh.

Anamato’s unraced Dubawi filly Adoringly (IRE) has followed her dam and half-sister to Australia. She is the dam of two-time winner Island Falcon (IRE) (Iffraaj), who was third behind the Japanese star Crown Paride in last year’s Group II UAE Derby at Meydan.

Warm Smile (New Approach), a daughter of Adoringly (IRE) won at Newmarket and is now with Ciaron Maher & David Eustace and placed in the Group III Centaurea Stakes (2028m) at Morphettville in May.

Adoringly (IRE) arrived in Australia in February carrying a positive test to Frankel (GB).

From the famous ‘Belle’ family nurtured for the best part of eighty years by the Sarten family, Anamato had a bit to live up to.

The daughter of the fabulous broodmare Voltage (Whiskey Road), Anamato is a half-sister to Group 1 Oakleigh Plate winner Drum (Maruding) and stakes-winner and Group 1 Caulfield Guineas runner-up Port Watch (Star Watch).

Anamato stakes-placed half-sister Tambour (Marauding) is the dam of the 7-time Group 1 winner Grand Armee. Tambour's sister Volte is the dam of Group 1 Rosehill Guineas winner Dealer Principal.

Bred by Phoenix Thoroughbreds, Tiz Invincible was a $550,000 purchase for Bahen Bloodstock / Ciaron Maher Racing / Eric Lucas from the Segenhoe Stud draft at the 2022 Inglis Australian Easter Sale.

She is the second foal of Amuletum (GB). Her first is the unraced Kingman (GB) filly Royal Mule who has a couple of barrier trials for Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott.

At the Magic Millions in January,  Justin Fung/Aquis Stallions shelled out $200,000 for Segenhoe Stud’s Pierata half-brother to Tiz Invincible.

After foaling a brother to Tiz Invincible last spring, Amuletum (GB) was covered by Acclaim (IRE).

Anamato is still going strong at 20. She has a 2yo Blue Point (IRE) filly named Blue Willow and visited Street Boss (USA) last spring, having missed to the son of Street Cry (IRE) in 2021.
