Timely Breakthrough for Better Than Ready Filly Aristella

Mark Smith - Wednesday July 26

Lyndhurst Stud’s Better Than Ready moved into second place for individual 2yo winners when Aristella opened her winning account in the Cascade Maiden Plate (1200m) for fillies at Doomben on Wednesday.

Ridden by Michael Cahill for Danny Bougoure made it four times a charm when defeating the Kermadec filly Torque About Magic by a length with a short-head back to the Super One filly She Is All Magic, which ousted the odds-n favourite Traviata (Deep Field) for third.

“Michael and Danny have always been a great combination. This filly has shown great promise from day one and has almost been unbeatable in barrier trials,” stable representative Marybeth Lepine said.

“When she gets to the races, she lacks focus and looks around, seagulling everywhere. She always comes home in great sectionals.

“Danny put the blinkers on her. He knew they would improve her as most of the Better Than Ready’s do.

“It’s great to get the score on the board, finally.”

An $85,000 purchase for Dan Bougoure Racing from the Lyndhurst Stud Farm draft at the 2022 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale, Aristella is the fourth winner from five to race for the stakes-placed, 4-time winning Stratum mare Elitist.

Aristella an $85,000 Magic Millions March yearling

Chris Anderson Racing/Steve Morley bought a Spirit Of Boom half-bother to Aristella for $85,000 from the Lyndhurst Stud Farm draft at the 2023 Magic Millions Gold Coast March Yearling Sale.

After foaling a Shooting To Win filly last spring, Elitist was covered by Encryption.

Aristella is the 19th 2yo winner of the season for Lyndhurst Stud Farm’s Better Than Ready, behind only Spirit Of Boom (23). The popular Queenslanders fought out the title last season when Better Than Ready’s 25 winners were two more than his old rival.
