Formality ($5) scored by a long neck over Jukebox ($4.20) while the Mick Price-trained Lone Eagle ($31) hit the line well to grab third, another 1 ¼ lengths away.

Below is what the jockeys had to say about the performances of their respective mounts in Wednesday's Blue Sapphire Stakes at Caulfield.

Formality

Kerrin McEvoy

I didn't give her a great ride in the Golden Rose … and she is probably just a sprinting filly. She was back in trip here and she is a very strong girl. She had a lovely run and she showed a good turn of foot they couldn't get near her.

He pulled a little bit in the run and he was very fresh. On straightening, I thought he was going to win the race and I have a big opinion of him and the winner was too strong for us today.

3rd

Lone Eagle

Dwayne Dunn

He probably hasn't had a lot of luck at the last couple of runs but he ran well today.

Crown Witness

Ben Melham

It was below par for her. I think you'll find she's every bit as good as those horses but she just wasn't herself today for some reason. She wanted to hang on the one rein so hopefully she pulls up OK.

5th

Muraaqeb

Mark Zahra

Ran well. He wants 1400(m) I reckon.

6th

Summer Passage

Hugh Bowman

He's got a bit more to offer. I feel his mentality is letting him down a bit at this stage.

7th

Indian Thunder

Damian Lane

He ran really well. When he got a bit of room late, he really savaged the line so they'll find a nice 1400(m) race somewhere and it will be perfect.

8th

Over Exposure

Luke Currie

He's a bit colty still.

9th

I Did It Again

Damien Oliver

A bit below par today. He had nice run but when I asked for him, there just wasn't much there. We'll have to see how he pulls up.
