Formality staved off a determined challenge from smart colt Jukebox to claim Wednesday's Group III Blue Sapphire Stakes (1200m) at Caulfield.
Formality ($5) scored by a long neck over Jukebox ($4.20) while the Mick Price-trained Lone Eagle ($31) hit the line well to grab third, another 1 ¼ lengths away.

I didn't give her a great ride in the Golden Rose … and she is probably just a sprinting filly. She was back in trip here and she is a very strong girl. She had a lovely run and she showed a good turn of foot they couldn't get near her. |

He pulled a little bit in the run and he was very fresh. On straightening, I thought he was going to win the race and I have a big opinion of him and the winner was too strong for us today. |
