Seven for Stratosphere

Tara Madgwick - Monday July 17

Ian's Finale proved far too good for the older horses at Devonport on Sunday winning in dominant fashion and becoming Stratosphere's 7th individual first crop winner in the process.

Grenvilel Stud's Stratosphere has done an outstanding job this season.

The Cameron Thompson trained gelding settled midfield from one of the outside barriers before cruising up to the leaders approaching the home straight and then unleashing an explosive turn of foot to win comfortably.

Previously the most individual winners for a Tasmanian based sire in their first crop was jointly held by Savoire Vivre and Wordsmith who both sired 6 individual winners in their first crop's.

The win of Ian's Finale today keeps Stratosphere in the top 5 Australian Leading First Season Sires (by individual winners) ahead of the likes of The Autumn Sun and Written By.

Further to this Stratosphere has the highest individual winners/runners percentage compared with the 5 leading first season sires having had just 16 runners to achieve his 7 individual winners.

Stratosphere is also likely to break further records before the end of the racing season with his first crop progeny earnings also about to surpass previous Tasmanian records - all of this with a significantly smaller foal crop and less runners than his predecessors.

Stratosphere is stamping his progeny - leaving excellent types who are continuing to get the results on the track.

Stratosphere is standing the 2023 Stud Season at $7,700 inc GST with his book quickly filling.
