Tara Madgwick - Thursday July 6

A close second on debut at Ballarat back in February, this Peter Moody trained two year-old daughter of Pierro was a short priced favourite when returning at Moe on Thursday.

She made light of the heavy 9 conditions, justifying the faith of punters when powering home for Carleen Hefel to take the 1200m maiden by three-quarters of a length despite wandering around when she got to the front.

“She’s still very green out there, but she’s got that bit of class and that helped her get across the line,” Carleen Hefel said.

“Once she straightened up and balanced up I knew she’s run them down easily.”

A $130,000 Inglis Premier purchase from Blue Gum Farm for Moody Racing, Mollynickers is the first winner for Just One Moment, a winning half-sister by More Than Ready (USA) to Group III winner One Last Dance and to the dam of stakes-winner I Am Me with the family also producing this season’s Group winning juvenile filly Russian Alliance.

Mollynickers traces back to a big international female family that has produced champion sires Storm Cat and Royal Academy so has the potential to become a very valuable broodmare in the future.

Just One Moment produced a colt by Golden Slipper winner Farnan last spring and was then covered by Dubious.

Mollynickers looks a promising winner for Pierro, who has sired over 100 winners this season including six stakes-winners and stands at a fee of $82,500.
