Mnementh Much the Best in Santa Ana Lane

Mark Smith - Saturday July 1

Popular Albury-based trainer Mitch Beer and the unstoppable Blake Shinn combined to capture Saturday's Santa Ana Lane Sprint Final (1200m) with the rising 6yo gelding Mnementh.

Coming off his stakes debut when beating two of the 16 starters home in the Group 1 Goodwood Hcp at Morphettville on May 20, the son of Eurozone led at every call to defeat It'sourtime (Time For War) by three-quarters of a length with Zethus (Exceed And Excel) one and a half lengths back in third.

The winner of the Wagga Town Plate on May 4, Mnementh advances his record to ten wins, six seconds, and one third from 29 starts with earnings of $552,820.

"I can't tell you how good a horse he has been for me," Beer said.

'He's gotten better as he gets older, and he wins when he had to when I was kicking off training. I've had him for a long time, and he is like part of the furniture, the bloody good part.

"About 18 months ago, we had him ready for a country championship in NSW, and I thought he was unbeatable, but he bled. “We got him home and changed everything, his feed, where he lives, and his form turned around.

"I told Blake that he is a great chaser and he loves sitting off them and running them down. He said there is no speed in the race we're going forward, and I said, aye aye captain."

Bred by Rushton Park, Mnementh is the only named foal for the 4-time winning Pendragon mare Yurrapendi, who was a $15,000 purchase for Rushton Park from the Think Big Stud draft at the 2016 Inglis Australian Broodmare Sale.

Mnementh comes from the second crop of Northern Meteror's Group II Stan Fox Stakes winner Eurozone and is his sixth black-type winner.

From the family of Group 1 Coronation Cup winner Shake The Yoke.

Eurozone last covered in 2020.
