Ridden by Jason Collett for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Chorlton Lane (IRE) was bottled up near the tail of the field on straightening.

Once the 3yo son of Mehmas found clear air, he set out after the topweight Plundering, who was not about to surrender without a fight.

Aided by a 4.5kg pull in the weights, Chorlton Lane (IRE) eased past Plundering (Shooting To Win) by a neck with Amor Victorious (Caravaggio) one and a quarter length back in third.

Chorlton Lane (IRE) created a huge impression when romping to a three and three-quarter length win over 1400m on the all-weather at Newcastle (ENG) at his only start at two last September.

The then Charlie Fellowes-trained gelding headed to Australia after finishing second at his 3yo bow at Kempton in January.

Charlie Gordon Watson Bloodstock had the final say at 27,000 guineas for Chorlton Lane (IRE) when cosigned by his breeder Tally - Ho Stud to the 2021 Tattersalls Somerville Yearling Sale.
