MIDDAY UPDATE - Wednesday's 2017 Caulfield Cup market moves

Breednet - Wednesday October 18

Bookies took another opportunity to trim Johannes Vermeer's quote today after the Aidan O'Brien-trained galloper drew barrier two in Saturday's Caulfield Cup.

William Hill and Crownbet tightened Johannes Vermeer, who ran second in last Saturday's Ladbrokes Stakes, from $5 into $4.60 while the international galloper firmed from $4.80 to $4.50 at Sportsbet.

Johannes Vermeer was also a significant firmer with CrownBet where he is now a $4.80 chance after trading at $5.50 before the barrier draw.

Bookmakers have also shaved Ventura Storm's Caulfield Cup quote after the Lindsay Park-trained import drew barrier four.

Ventura Storm, who will have the services of four-time Caulfield Cup winner Damien Oliver, is as short as $11 in post-draw betting after as much as $15 was bet when the final field was declared on Tuesday morning.

Humidor remains around the $6 mark after drawing barrier seven while Bonneval eased with some bookmakers after she drew barrier 14 in the 17-horse field.

Below is a comparison of pre and post-barrier draw markets on the Caufield Cup as of midday Wednesday.
