Winning Juvenile Double for Zoustar

Tara Madgwick - Wednesday June 7

Widden Stud’s champion sire Zoustar moved to 12 two year-old winners for the season with a juvenile double on Wednesday courtesy of dashing grey filly Right to Party and Royal Zeus, while at Canterbury his talented three year-old filly Nostalgia won in a breeze.

Trained by Anthony and Sam Freedman, Right to Party looked a class above when starting favourite and powering clear for Ryan Maloney to win the juvenile maiden over 1200m at Doomben at her second start.

Right to Party is a homebred for Jonathan Munz and runs in the Pinecliff Racing colours. She is a half-sister to Group III winner Big Party and Group placed sprinters Top Me Up and General Groove being the sixth winner from seven foals to race from top producing Dehere (USA) mare De Groove, a sibling to Group III winner Taikun and stakes-winner Super Groove.

Obviously enjoying the Queensland sunshine, Right to Party will be worth following when she returns to Victoria.

Zoustar rang up the double with the John McArdle trained gelding Regal Zeus scoring by a length at Sale at his second run back from a spell.

A $150,000 Inglis Easter purchase for Regal Bloodstock / Blue Grass (FBAA) / Redgum Racing from the Edinburgh Park draft, Regal Zeus is the first winner for Quiet Kitten (USA), who was snapped up by Kingstar Farm at the Magic Millions run Edinburgh Park Dispersal for $120,000.

At Canterbury, the Chris Waller trained Nostalgia was a hot favourite in the 1250m fillies maiden and won like a favourite should, gapping her rivals to win by three lengths under James McDonald at her second start.

A homebred for Torryburn Stud, Nostalgia is the third winner from three to race our of well bred import Apamurra (USA), a Lonhro half-sister to the dams of Group I winners Alizee and Astern.

The winners keep coming for Zoustar.

Zoustar moves to 165 Australian winners for the season, which is second to only I Am Invincible.
