20th Stakes-Winner for Frankel

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday October 17
Overnight in the UK, former champion racehorse and now leading young sire Frankel posted his 20th stakes-winner, so we thought it might be interesting to take a look at his overall statistics.

Frankel sired three year-old filly Aljezeera to win the Listed Beckford Stakes at Yarmouth over 2800 metres, which is the furthest distance at which his progeny have been successful in stakes races.

FrankelFrankel's 20 stakes-winner come from 123 runners giving him 16.3% stakes-winners to runners with his best performer the Japanese dual Group I winner Soul Stirring.

He has had 64 winners from his 123 runners giving him 52% winners to runners.

Given the quality of mares covered by Frankel, he is entitled to be successful and undoubtedly is, although he is yet to produce a Group I winner in Europe with Cracksman his best horse, a Group II winner that placed in the Epsom and Irish Derby.

For the record his sire Galileo (now aged 19) has the following statistics.

Galileo has sired 261 stakes-winners at 13.7% stakes-winners to runners with 68.3 % winners to runners.

Footnote : Frankel has had a handful of Australian runners that include promising winners Woman and Merovee.
