Consistent Street Boss Colt Heuristic Rewarded in Coles Stakes

A ground-saving ride by Ben Melham earned Godolphin’s honest Street Boss (USA) Heuristic a maiden stakes success in Saturday’s Group III David Coles Am Stakes (1200m) at Morphettville.

Tracking the early speed set by  Iphimedia, Heuristic was gifted a rails run on straightening. In a driving finish, the son of Street Boss (USA) dug deep to defeat the Exceed And Excel filly Iphimedia by a neck, with the Deep Field filly Down Low the same distance back in third.

In a busy season, the James Cummings-trained colt has been off the board just once, when seventh in the Listed Merson Cooper Stakes, in seven starts.

Heuristic came to the David Coles AM Stakes off the back of a second to Treasurway over the track and distance in the Group III Breeders’ stakes.

His overall record stands at two wins, two seconds, and two thirds from seven starts, with earnings of $160,635.

“He is very honest, and the boys have done a good job with him campaigning in Adelaide,”  James Cummings said.

“It takes a bit of commitment for them to come across and stay in Adelaide rather than transporting them back and forth. Credit to Sean (Keogh) for looking after him so well. He looked a picture in the yard.”

 Heuristic is the first foal of the impeccably bred Lonhro mare Admissible.

Though she did not distinguish herself on the track, placing in four of six starts, Admissible is a daughter of Forensics (Flying Spur) whose seven wins were highlighted by the Golden Slipper, Queen Of The Turf Stakes and Myer Classic.

Admissible has a yearling Brazen Bay colt named Admitted and a weanling filly by Brazen Bay. She missed to Victor Ludorum (GB) last spring.

Heuristic is the 63rd stakes-winner for Street Boss (USA), who returns to Darley’s Victorian base at Northwood in 2021 with his fee set at $66,000.
