Boomster 13th 2yo Winner for Spirit Of Boom

Mark Smith - Wednesday May 17

The race for leading 2yo sire for individual winners looks like going down to the wire after Spirit Of Boom joined Better Than Ready when Boomster opened his account over 1200m at Ipswich on Wednesday.

Ridden by Damien Thornton for Kelly Schweida, Boomster overpowered Sonny Daze to break through at his seventh start.

The son of Spirit Of Boom defeated the Performer gelding Sonny Daze by a half head, with Tivaci debutant Not So Common a length back in third.

A $50,000 purchase for Bryan & Daniel Guy from the Roona Lodge draft at the 2022 Magic Millions March Yearling Sale, Boomster is a half-brother to multiple stakes-placed winner Unequivocal (Not a Single Doubt), and is the seventh winner for the unraced General Nediym mare Chocaholic who was covered by Spirit Of Boom again last season.
