Lord Fandango carried 53kg to defeat the international galloper Wall Of Fire to win his way into the Caulfield Cup but will drop to 50kg in the $3 million event.

Racing Victoria noted the Herbert Power Stakes winner could not be re-handicapped for the Caulfield Cup.

Racing Victoria's chief handicapper Greg Carpenter also noted the conditions of the ATC St Leger meant Saturday's Randwick winner Big Duke was not eligible for a Caulfield or Melbourne Cup weight penalty.

Carpenter said the ATC St Leger was a set weights race, meaning the winner could not be penalised for the Caulfield Cup while the race did not carry black type status, which ruled out any Melbourne Cup penalty.

Big Duke is 19th in the Caulfield Cup order of entry but is not expected to be among the Caulfield Cup acceptors on Tuesday morning while the Darren Weir-trained galloper sits 23rd in the Melbourne Cup order of entry.
