New Group winner for Shamexpress

Media Release - Wednesday May 3

DENBY ROAD provided SHAMEXPRESS with his ninth individual Stakeswinner at the weekend when impressively winning the Gr.3 Cambridge Breeders Stakes at Te Rapa in an outstanding training performance by Cambridge trainer Shelley Hale.

At only his 7th career start he was able to put away a talented group of 3YO's and burst through a gap to win much to the delight of commentator George Simon who bred and own's the gelding with his wife Maryanne, also well known breeders of resident Windsor Park stallion Turn Me Loose.

Denby Road is a new G3 winner for Shamexpress.

Interestingly, Denby Road (Shamexpress) is out of a half-sister to triple Gr.1 winner and young sire Turn Me Loose giving the 3YO a real flavor of the Windsor Park barn mates.

Trainer Shelley Hale praised the horse's ability which he has shown since day one

“We’ve always had a pretty big opinion of him and we know he is quick"

“He is just phenomenal, as when we were working him as a two-year-old, he just did every little thing we asked of him and he is just a natural talent.

“I think he is something a bit special.”

Shamexpress’ progeny regularly feature in the winners circle with his progeny having a winners/runners percentage in excess of 60%, highlighted by dual Gr.1 WFA winning mare Coventina Bay and high class sprinters in Weona Smartone (winner of 8 of his first 9 starts and Sydney Group performed) and Group winner Shamus.

Shamexpress stands the 2023 season for a fee of $8,000 + GST
