Fourth Stakes Win for Tattersalls Bargain Skyman

Mark Smith - Saturday April 22

The Chris Waller-trained Skyman (GB) has earned his place on the rapidly growing honour roll of European-bred stable stalwarts following his win in Saturday’s Listed Tails Stakes (1615m) at Doomben.

Ridden by James Orman, the 7yo gelded son of Mukhadram (GB) made light of his 60kgs to defeat Cepheus (GB) (Sea The Stars) by a length with Master Jamie (Poet’s Voice) a short-half-head back in third.

It was the fourth Listed win for Skyman (GB), advancing his record to nine wins, six seconds and three thirds from 36 starts with earnings of $853,926.

Skyman(GB) has taken a bit of a liking to Queensland. Two starts back, he captured the Listed Berborough Stakes (1600m) at Doomben in what stable representative Brett Killian said was a hit-and-run mission.

“He is up here now for the carnival and has picked up where he left off,” Killian said.

“His run behind Bandersnatch in the Doncaster Prelude was good. That form is pretty strong, and he was weighted up to his best but could still sprint.  “It is the time of year when the trucks start arriving with the better class horses.”

Go Racing shelled out 42,000gns for Skyman (GB) at the 2019 Tattersalls Autumn Horses in Training Sale.

The son of Group 1 Eclipse Stakes winner Mukhadram (Shamardal) is the best of three winners from six to race for the Dalakhani (IRE) mare Skyrider, a sister to Group III Milan Premio Chiusura winner Gothic Dance.
