The Archie Alexander trained filly Vivy Air was too strong late for race favourite Hellara, surging past her to win by more than a length.

“She toughed it out well, she dug in deep and was good to the line,” said Archie Alexander.

“We have a little plan to back her up in the Anzac Day Stakes a week from today at Flemington. She looks like she’ll get 1400m and if she pulls up well, and obviously that’s only if she pulls up well, we may go around next week.”

A homebred for OTI Racing, Vivy Air is a half-sister to South African Group II winner New Predator and is the sixth winner from six to race out of winning Fastnet Rock mare Head over Heels, a half-sister to stakes-winner Presently.

Vivy Air is a great result for OTI Racing as Head Over Heels has two more Hellbent fillies to follow, a yearling and a weanling.
