Capitalist Joins Century Club

Tara Madgwick - Tuesday March 21

With his oldest progeny just four year-olds, Newgate Farm based Capitalist joined the century club on Tuesday and is the youngest sire to crack 100 Australian winners for the season.

Capitalist sired his 100th winner of the season on Tuesday.

The Golden Slipper winning son of Written Tycoon brought up the milestone when three year-old  filly Champagne Torque won at Kilcoy at her third start.

Capitalist is the leading third crop sire by winners and stakes-winners. His four Black Type winners are headed by Group II ATC Sweet Embrace Stakes winner Lazzago, Group III winner Cannonball, who placed in the Group I ATC The Galaxy last Saturday, and SW’s Economics and Sovereign Fund.

He has a dozen yearlings to be offered at Inglis Easter and they include the half-brother to Group I ATC Coolmore Classic winner Espiona as well as half-brothers to Group winners Overpass, Sejardan and Smart Missile.

Capitalist covered 174 mares last spring at a fee of $99,000.
