One To Watch - Yarra Valley

Mark Smith - Sunday March 19

A 3yo daughter of Maurice (JPN) out of a dual Group 1 winner, Aiming made a winning career debut over 1200m at Yarra Valley on Sunday.

Ridden by Carleen Hefel for Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, Aiming still had plenty to do to catch the favourite Signal and Circumpolar with 100m to run.

Switched outside that pair, Aiming reeled in Signal (Danerich) to win by a half-head with Circumpolar (Kuroshio) a half-nek back in third.

“She was terrific today. I didn’t think she would get there, but she knuckled down in the last 50m,” Carleen Hefel said.

“I have put a lot of work into this filly and she keeps improving whether it’s a gallop or trials.

“She stills looks like aa little pony, so she has a lot of improvement.”

A$200,000 purchase for Ciaron Maher Bloodstock from the Kulani Park draft at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale, Aiming is the sixth winner for the Group 1 VRC Oaks and Group 1 STC Arrowfield Stud Stakes heroine Hollow Bullet (Tayasu Tsuyoshi).

Aiming a $200,000 Inglis Premier yearling

Bred by Arrowfield Stud and Jungle Pocket Pty Ltd, Aiming is a half-sister to BRC Lord Mayor's Cup winner Reloaded Snitzel) and a sister to the talented Silent Impact.

Vinery Stud shelled out $200,000 for Hollow Bullet’s Pariah filly consigned by Kulani Park to the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale. She has been named Trajectile and is in training with Kris Lees.

Not served in 2020, Hollow Bullet was served by Maurice (JPN) last spring.
