One to Watch – Bendigo

Tara Madgwick - Thursday March 9

Stakes placed at two of her first three starts, this Hellbent two year-old made light work of a maiden event at Bendigo on Thursday in the Trilogy Racing colours with more wins in store.

Trained by Ben Brisbourne, Hell Queen was a short priced favourite after chasing home Maharba for second in the Listed VRC Talindert and duly franked that form when bolting clear to win the 1100m dash by three and a half lengths.

“Ben (Brisbourne) has picked out a stakes race for her, but it’s five weeks away so we thought this was a good option where she could come and have a virtual barrier trial or track gallop and get the win and take that confidence back to Group racing,” said winning rider Craig Williams.

“She’s growing and developing and every time she races she is getting better. She’s a lovely filly as a two year-old, but she’ll be a good three year- old in time for Trilogy, who are putting so much into racing.”

A $75,000 Magic Millions National Weanling Sale purchase for Trilogy Racing from the Three Bridges Thoroughbreds draft, Hell Queen is the second winner from well bred Fastnet Rock mare  Russian Empress, a winning sister to Group I winner Atlante.

Lot 308

Three Bridges Thoroughbreds will offer a Brazen Beau yearling filly from Russian Empress at Magic Millions Adelaide as Lot 308.

Hell Queen is another smart winner for Yarraman Park’s Hellbent, who is riding high on the second crop sires list in second place by earnings and winners.
