David Hayes has Group I runners at Caulfield but will be at Randwick on Saturday to saddle up a quarter of the field in the $10 million The Everest.
Hayes trains Vega Magic, Redkirk Warrior and Tulip in partnership with son Ben and Tom Dabernig in the 1200m sprint and said the race has captured local imagination.
"I would say this is the most hyped up race in Sydney I've ever been involved in," Hayes said.
As far as his trio is concerned, Hayes feels the bookmakers have got their sums wrong with last start winners Vega Magic and Redkirk Warrior.
"I just can't believe the difference in the odds," Hayes said. "Vega Magic is probably going to start favourite and yet Redkirk Warrior is double the odds and has a better barrier.
"They have both done terrifically well since they've been in Sydney.
"I'd be backing both and a slight leaning to the one at value. People have been saying Redkirk Warrior is just a straight horse but he is just as effective around a bend."
Vega Magic is available at $5 with several wagering operators and Redkirk Warrior best priced at $11.
Tulip is the other Lindsay Park Racing runner, the three-year-old filly finishing fourth last time out in the Group II Tea Rose Stakes at Randwick and to be ridden by Tim Clark
"I think she'll beat more home than beat her but I'm not sure she can beat my other two - they are outstanding sprinters and it is a big ask for her to win I think." Hayes said.
Lindsay Park Racing accepted with 21 horses at Caulfield including Catchy in the $2 million Caulfield Guineas and Hayes has no fear of taking on the males with the daughter of Fastnet Rock.
"Every time she's raced against colts she's beaten them and she's so strong at the end of her races," Hayes said.
"She looks a bolted on miler to me and, in a year where there does not appear to be a dominant colt, I think it's well worth us taking a chance with her."
Hayes signalled a possible change of riding tactics with Catchy, third behind Booker in the Group II Tranquil Star Stakes over 1400m at Caulfield last time out.
"We rode her conservatively last time but I think from where she's drawn on Saturday (three) and with the speed on she can settle midfield," Hayes said.
"She's shown she can go inside horses and in a truly run race I'm confident she can run the mile no problem."
Catchy is a $4.80 chance with CrownBet.
