The Everest field and barrier draw

Clinton Payne - Tuesday October 10

The all-important barrier draw has been conducted for the $10 million The Everest (1200m) at Randwick on Saturday.

The weight-for-age sprint is now Australia's richest race, eclipsing the Melbourne Cup's $6 million in prizemoney, and the world most lucrative event run on turf.

The first six horses allocated gates in the barrier draw came up with the outside half-dozen stalls in the field of 12.

English was the first horse drawn (barrier 12) while She Will Reign was the last of the 12 to know their fate and the race favourite will start from barrier 2.

The four reserve runners have also been announced and they are In Her Time, Takedown, Trapeze Artist and Ball Of Muscle.

The emergencies are in no particular order and if required, would fill the barrier vacated by a scratching.

This is the field and barrier draw for The Everest.
