Tara Madgwick - Sunday January 22

It’s not easy to purchase a filly by champion sire Zoustar for $50,000 at a major yearling sale, but for these happy owners it’s been a dream come true!

Three year-old filly Hissy Fit is short in stature but long on talent and made a winning debut at Mornington on Sunday for a big group of very happy owners.

Purchased for just $50,000 from the Widden Stud draft at Inglis Premier by Dream Thoroughbreds / Bluegrass Bloodstock (FBAA) / Yargi Racing, Hissy Fit is trained by Amy and Ash Yargi, who picked out a 1000m maiden for her debut.

With Jamie Kah on board, Hissy Fit was a short priced favourite and the full sister to Group placed speedster Battleton forged clear to win by a length.

Jamie Kah was full of praise for the filly with more wins predicted.

“When you see her you wouldn’t think she had much scope, but she’s fast and actually has a turn of foot,” Kah said.

“She’s tiny, I felt like I was riding out on a Shetland pony, but she’s got the ability there.”

Hissy Fit is the second winner for smart Commands mare Dulverton, a half-sister to Champion NZ 2YO Warhorse.

Widden Stud offered her current yearling, a colt by Zousain, at the recent Magic Millions and he was interestingly bought by Dream Thoroughbreds/Bluegrass Bloodstock (FBAA) for $250,000, so Hissy Fit has no doubt been showing good potential.

The yearling 3/4 brother by Zousain to Hissy Fit sold for $250,000 at Magic Millions.

Dulverton produced a colt last spring by Zousain and is now back in foal to Zoustar.
