Winx named Horse Of The Year again

Winx was predictably named Australian Horse Of The Year for a second time at a function in Brisbane on Sunday night.

The Chris Waller-trained six-year-old won all eight of her starts in the 2016-17 season with six of them at Group I level, with the most notable being a second Cox Plate.

Her other Group I wins were the Queen Elizabeth Stakes, Chipping Norton Stakes, Caulfield Stakes, George Main Stakes and George Ryder Stakes. 

Saturday's Turnbull Stakes victory at Flemington was the 21st consecutive win for Winx, who was also named champion Middle Distance horse.

Chris Waller won The Bart Cummings Award for training and High Bowman the Champion Group I Jockey award.
