She Dances Leads Home a 1-2 for Peter Moody at Flemington

Mark Smith - Saturday December 17

Peter Moody declared pre-race that there was little between his two runners in Saturday’s Lexus Holiday Plate (1200m), and he was on the mark with the outsider of the pair proving too good for her stablemate.

With Luke Nolen in the saddle, the Street Boss (USA) filly She Dances chartered a course down the centre of the track to defeat stablemate River Noire (Winning Rupert) by a length with Prairie Flower (Star Turn) a length and a quarter back in third.

“She was good and tough. I think that if Luke had ridden her like that in (Group III Red Roses Stakes) Cup week, we could have had a filly with black type on board,” Moody said.

“The difference between the fillies was probably race nous. River Noire was there to win but did not know how to put the other one away. We saw experience come to the fore. That takes you a long way in life.

“The next step is black-type, but for a filly like She Dances, there is a VOBIS Gold Rush for 3yo fillies race in two weeks and that VOBS gold money is too good to ignore. I think River Noire may have a VOBIS tag on her backside, so there is a chance they clash again.

“We may look to the back end of the autumn for black-type.”

She Dances advances her record to three wins from five starts with earnings of $220,600.
