She Dances to Victory in Northwood Plume

Mark Smith - Saturday October 14

A big start to Caulfield Guineas Day for Limerick Lane’s Gerry Ryan after his Written Tycoon filly Sheva scored in the Thoroughbred Club Plate before She Dances carried the royal blue and white checks, green sleeves to victory in the SENET Northwood Plume Stakes (1200m).

Ridden by Linda Meech for Peter Moody and Katherine Coleman, the 4-year-old daughter of Street Boss (USA) tracked the early speed before drawing clear in the straight to defeat Rose Quartz (Written Tycoon) by one and a quarter lengths with a short-head back to La Danseuse Rouge (Manhattan Rain) in third.

With her stakes breakthrough, She Dances advances her record to six wins and a second from 12 starts with earnings of $651,565.

“This horse and Linda, they go so well together, and I am thrilled for Linda to get this win and also for the connections of this horse,“ Coleman said.

“Those colours seem in good form, which is fantastic. They put so much into this industry, and it is great to see them rewarded.”

“She’s a tough little mare. She’s got a great record over 1200m, and when the race panned out the way it did, I thought it really worked in our favour.”

Linda Meech has been on She Dances in four of her six wins.

“She’s a horse that can sprint off a really good tempo; she’s just a little rocket,” Meech said.

“Huge thanks to Peter and Katherine and all the team at Pakenham because they have done a great job with her.

“Second-up, she’s done really well on her break, and I thought she carried a bit of excess last start. Getting to the 1200 (metres) takes the pressure off, and she can (could) dictate today, relax with a good cruisey speed.

“She’s got a high cruising speed and over 1200 she really relaxes.”

Bred by Des Pope, She Dances was a $180,000 purchase for John Foote Bloodstock from the Blue Gum Farm draft at the 2021 Inglis Melbourne Premier Yearling Sale.

The daughter of Street Boss (USA) is the first foal of the winning Lonhro mare Charleston Dancer.

She Dances a $180,000 Inglis Premier Yearling

A half-sister to Listed winner Chloe In Paris (Exceed And Excel) and Inglis Banner (LR) winner Ideas Man (Brazen Beau), Charleston Dancer is a daughter of the Pope family’s multiple Group winner and dual Group 1 placed Innovation Girl (Rubiton).

Charleston Dancer has a 2-year-old filly and yearling filly by Snitzel and revisited Street Boss (USA) last spring.

She Dances is the 66th black-type winner for Darley Stud’s Street Boss (USA).
