Brad Waters - Monday July 31

The wind put paid to the majority of Saturday's Caulfield meeting but there was a strong performance worth following in the next few weeks.

We don't have a pic of the horse but Confluence is the description of when two rivers meet. There, we've just given you your useless fact fix for the day.

CONFLUENCE

Confluence headed to town for the $150,000 VOBIS Gold Ingot after solid efforts at Echuca and Bendigo but his run in the Caulfield feature was terrific. Jockey Damian Lane had no luck when looking for an early position, which left the son of Denman posted three-wide midfield. Lane sent Confluence forward to race handy to the speed into the stiff headwind before trying to pinch a break on his rivals on the home turn. The tactic worked until the winner Shamport emerged from the pack after a much softer run to score. Confluence was beaten 2 ¼ lengths but his effort indicated a breakthrough win is imminent.

Career record (4:0-3-0).

Race to look for – 3YO races over 1400m.
