Promising Nicconi Filly Returns A Winner

Breednet - Monday October 31

Promising Nicconi filly Naiconi found a couple of strong maidens before being given a crack at stakes grade in her first preparation, but she returned an easy winner on Monday.

She finished second on debut back in March at Ballarat behind Crosswinds, which promptly came out next start and won a Listed race at Moonee Valley.

She then was second again at Pakenham behind Miss Dunsford, who subsequently ran third in the South Australian Sires Produce at Group Three level.

Trainers Tony and Calvin McEvoy gave Naiconi a test in stakes grade in the Dequetteville Stakes at her third start which didn’t go well, but she showed she’s back in outstanding shape for the new campaign when sent to the post a raging hot favourite on Monday and put four lengths on the opposition.

Bought by McEvoy Mitchell and Belmont Bloodstock for $185,000 from the Collingrove draft at the Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale, she is the fifth foal of stakes placed Choisir mare Embark, with all five of those foals being winners.

She has only had one foal since, a filly by North Pacific this season.
